Jesus Goes on a Preaching Tour

In the morning, while it was still very dark, Jesus got up and went to a deserted place and prayed there.

After saying goodbye to them, he went up on a hillside to pray.

He told them, “This kind can come out only by prayer and fasting.”

Then he began to teach them: “It is written, is it not, ‘My house is to be called a house of prayer for all nations’? But you’ve turned it into a hideout for bandits!”

That is why I tell you, whatever you ask for in prayer, believe that you have received it and it will be yours.

“Whenever you stand up to pray, forgive whatever you have against anyone, so that your Father in heaven will forgive your sins.

They devour widows’ houses and say long prayers to cover it up. They will receive greater condemnation!”

Jesus Prays in the Garden of Gethsemane

Then they came to a place called Gethsemane, and he told his disciples, “Sit down here while I pray.”

Going on a little farther, he fell to the ground and kept praying that if it were possible the hour might pass from him.

All of you must stay awake and pray that you won’t be tempted. The spirit is indeed willing, but the body is weak.”

He went away again and prayed the same prayer as before.
