Love for Enemies
“You have heard that it was said, ‘You shall love your neighbor and hate your enemy.’
-
But I say to you: Love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you,
-
For if you love those who love you, what reward do you have? Do not even the tax collectors do the same?

Concerning Prayer
“And whenever you pray, do not be like the hypocrites, for they love to stand and pray in the synagogues and at the street corners, so that they may be seen by others. Truly I tell you, they have received their reward.

Serving Two Masters
“No one can serve two masters, for a slave will either hate the one and love the other or be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and wealth.

“Whoever loves father or mother more than me is not worthy of me, and whoever loves son or daughter more than me is not worthy of me,

Honor your father and mother. Also, you shall love your neighbor as yourself.”

He said to him, “ ‘You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’

And a second is like it: ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’

They love to have the place of honor at banquets and the best seats in the synagogues

And because of the increase of lawlessness, the love of many will grow cold.

Love for Enemies
“But I say to you who are listening: Love your enemies; do good to those who hate you;

“If you love those who love you, what credit is that to you? For even sinners love those who love them.

Instead, love your enemies, do good, and lend, expecting nothing in return. Your reward will be great, and you will be children of the Most High, for he himself is kind to the ungrateful and the wicked.
