  209. What would you prefer? Am I to come to you with a stick or with love in a spirit of gentleness?
  210. For I, though absent in body, am present in spirit, and as if present I have already pronounced judgment
  211. in the name of the Lord Jesus on the man who has done such a thing. When you are assembled and my spirit is present with the power of our Lord Jesus,
  212. you are to hand this man over to Satan for the destruction of the flesh, so that the spirit may be saved in the day of the Lord.
  213. And this is what some of you used to be. But you were washed, you were sanctified, you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and in the Spirit of our God.
  214. Glorify God in Body and Spirit

“All things are permitted for me,” but not all things are beneficial. “All things are permitted for me,” but I will not be dominated by anything.
  215. But anyone united to the Lord becomes one spirit with him.
  216. Or do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit within you, which you have from God, and that you are not your own?
  217. and his interests are divided. And the unmarried woman and the virgin are anxious about the affairs of the Lord, so that they may be holy in body and spirit, but the married woman is anxious about the affairs of the world, how to please her husband.
  218. But in my opinion she is more blessed if she remains as she is. And I think that I, too, have the Spirit of God.
  219. If we have sown spiritual things among you, is it too much if we harvest material things?
  220. and all ate the same spiritual food,
  221. and all drank the same spiritual drink. For they drank from the spiritual rock that followed them, and the rock was Christ.
  222. Spiritual Gifts

Now concerning spiritual gifts, brothers and sisters, I do not want you to be ignorant.
  223. Therefore I want you to understand that no one speaking by the Spirit of God ever says “Let Jesus be cursed!” and no one can say “Jesus is Lord” except by the Holy Spirit.
  224. Now there are varieties of gifts but the same Spirit,
  225. To each is given the manifestation of the Spirit for the common good.
  226. To one is given through the Spirit the utterance of wisdom and to another the utterance of knowledge according to the same Spirit,
  227. to another faith by the same Spirit, to another gifts of healing by the one Spirit,
  228. to another the working of powerful deeds, to another prophecy, to another the discernment of spirits, to another various kinds of tongues, to another the interpretation of tongues.
  229. All these are activated by one and the same Spirit, who allots to each one individually just as the Spirit chooses.
  230. For in the one Spirit we were all baptized into one body—Jews or Greeks, slaves or free—and we were all made to drink of one Spirit.
  231. Gifts of Prophecy and Tongues

Pursue love and strive for the spiritual gifts and especially that you may prophesy.
  232. For those who speak in a tongue do not speak to other people but to God, for no one understands them, since they are speaking mysteries in the Spirit.
  233. So with yourselves: since you are striving after spiritual gifts, seek to excel in them for building up the church.
  234. For if I pray in a tongue, my spirit prays but my mind is unproductive.
  235. What should I do then? I will pray with the spirit, but I will pray with the mind also; I will sing praise with the spirit, but I will sing praise with the mind also.
  236. Otherwise, if you say a blessing with the spirit, how can anyone in the position of an outsider say the “Amen” to your thanksgiving, since the outsider does not know what you are saying?
  237. (and the spirits of prophets are subject to the prophets,
  238. Anyone who claims to be a prophet or spiritual must acknowledge that what I am writing to you is a command of the Lord.
  239. It is sown a physical body; it is raised a spiritual body. If there is a physical body, there is also a spiritual body.
  240. Thus it is written, “The first man, Adam, became a living being”; the last Adam became a life-giving spirit.
  241. But it is not the spiritual that is first but the physical and then the spiritual.
  242. for they refreshed my spirit as well as yours. So give recognition to such persons.
  243. who has put his seal on us and given us his Spirit in our hearts as a down payment.
  244. and you show that you are a letter of Christ, prepared by us, written not with ink but with the Spirit of the living God, not on tablets of stone but on tablets that are human hearts.
  245. who has made us qualified to be ministers of a new covenant, not of letter but of spirit, for the letter kills, but the Spirit gives life.
  246. how much more will the ministry of the Spirit come in glory?
  247. Now the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom.
  248. And all of us, with unveiled faces, seeing the glory of the Lord as though reflected in a mirror, are being transformed into the same image from one degree of glory to another, for this comes from the Lord, the Spirit.
  249. But just as we have the same spirit of faith that is in accordance with scripture—“I believed, and so I spoke”—we also believe, and therefore we also speak,
  250. The one who has prepared us for this very thing is God, who has given us the Spirit as a down payment.
