    “You have heard the commandment that says, ‘You must not commit adultery.’
  2. But I say, anyone who even looks at a woman with lust has already committed adultery with her in his heart.
  3. But I say that a man who divorces his wife, unless she has been unfaithful, causes her to commit adultery. And anyone who marries a divorced woman also commits adultery.
  4. For from the heart come evil thoughts, murder, adultery, all sexual immorality, theft, lying, and slander.
  5. And I tell you this, whoever divorces his wife and marries someone else commits adultery—unless his wife has been unfaithful.”

  13. A Woman Caught in Adultery

    Jesus returned to the Mount of Olives,
  14. As he was speaking, the teachers of religious law and the Pharisees brought a woman who had been caught in the act of adultery. They put her in front of the crowd.
  15. “Teacher,” they said to Jesus, “this woman was caught in the act of adultery.
  16. You say it is wrong to commit adultery, but do you commit adultery? You condemn idolatry, but do you use items stolen from pagan temples?
  17. So while her husband is alive, she would be committing adultery if she married another man. But if her husband dies, she is free from that law and does not commit adultery when she remarries.
  18. For the commandments say, “You must not commit adultery. You must not murder. You must not steal. You must not covet.” These—and other such commandments—are summed up in this one commandment: “Love your neighbor as yourself.”
  19. Don’t you realize that those who do wrong will not inherit the Kingdom of God? Don’t fool yourselves. Those who indulge in sexual sin, or who worship idols, or commit adultery, or are male prostitutes, or practice homosexuality,
