  37. “And you, child, will be called the prophet of the Highest; For you will go before the face of the Lord to prepare His ways,
  38. To give light to those who sit in darkness and the shadow of death, To guide our feet into the way of peace.”
  39. John the Baptist Prepares the Way

    Now in the fifteenth year of the reign of Tiberius Caesar, Pontius Pilate being governor of Judea, Herod being tetrarch of Galilee, his brother Philip tetrarch of Iturea and the region of Trachonitis, and Lysanias tetrarch of Abilene,
  40. as it is written in the book of the words of Isaiah the prophet, saying: “The voice of one crying in the wilderness: ‘Prepare the way of the Lord; Make His paths straight.
  41. Every valley shall be filled And every mountain and hill brought low; The crooked places shall be made straight And the rough ways smooth;
  42. Then passing through the midst of them, He went His way.
  43. “A sower went out to sow his seed. And as he sowed, some fell by the wayside; and it was trampled down, and the birds of the air devoured it.
  44. Those by the wayside are the ones who hear; then the devil comes and takes away the word out of their hearts, lest they should believe and be saved.
  45. “Return to your own house, and tell what great things God has done for you.” And he went his way and proclaimed throughout the whole city what great things Jesus had done for him.
  46. When you go with your adversary to the magistrate, make every effort along the way to settle with him, lest he drag you to the judge, the judge deliver you to the officer, and the officer throw you into prison.
  47. And behold, there was a woman who had a spirit of infirmity eighteen years, and was bent over and could in no way raise herself up.
  48. The Narrow Way

    And He went through the cities and villages, teaching, and journeying toward Jerusalem.
  49. Or else, while the other is still a great way off, he sends a delegation and asks conditions of peace.
  50. So those who were sent went their way and found it just as He had said to them.

  71. Now for a time of about forty years He put up with their ways in the wilderness.
  72. who in bygone generations allowed all nations to walk in their own ways.
  73. So, being sent on their way by the church, they passed through Phoenicia and Samaria, describing the conversion of the Gentiles; and they caused great joy to all the brethren.
  74. This girl followed Paul and us, and cried out, saying, “These men are the servants of the Most High God, who proclaim to us the way of salvation.”
  75. This man had been instructed in the way of the Lord; and being fervent in spirit, he spoke and taught accurately the things of the Lord, though he knew only the baptism of John.
  76. So he began to speak boldly in the synagogue. When Aquila and Priscilla heard him, they took him aside and explained to him the way of God more accurately.
  77. But when some were hardened and did not believe, but spoke evil of the Way before the multitude, he departed from them and withdrew the disciples, reasoning daily in the school of Tyrannus.

  80. When we had come to the end of those days, we departed and went on our way; and they all accompanied us, with wives and children, till we were out of the city. And we knelt down on the shore and prayed.
  81. I persecuted this Way to the death, binding and delivering into prisons both men and women,
  82. But this I confess to you, that according to the Way which they call a sect, so I worship the God of my fathers, believing all things which are written in the Law and in the Prophets.
  83. Felix Procrastinates

    But when Felix heard these things, having more accurate knowledge of the Way, he adjourned the proceedings and said, “When Lysias the commander comes down, I will make a decision on your case.”
  84. They also honored us in many ways; and when we departed, they provided such things as were necessary.
  85. making request if, by some means, now at last I may find a way in the will of God to come to you.
  86. Much in every way! Chiefly because to them were committed the oracles of God.
  87. Destruction and misery are in their ways;

  91. Therefore let us not judge one another anymore, but rather resolve this, not to put a stumbling block or a cause to fall in our brother’s way.
  92. whenever I journey to Spain, I shall come to you. For I hope to see you on my journey, and to be helped on my way there by you, if first I may enjoy your company for a while.
  93. Therefore, when I have performed this and have sealed to them this fruit, I shall go by way of you to Spain.
  94. For this reason I have sent Timothy to you, who is my beloved and faithful son in the Lord, who will remind you of my ways in Christ, as I teach everywhere in every church.
  95. Striving for a Crown

    Do you not know that those who run in a race all run, but one receives the prize? Run in such a way that you may obtain it.
  96. No temptation has overtaken you except such as is common to man; but God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able, but with the temptation will also make the way of escape, that you may be able to bear it.
  97. But earnestly desire the best gifts. And yet I show you a more excellent way.
  98. For I do not wish to see you now on the way; but I hope to stay a while with you, if the Lord permits.
  99. What then? Only that in every way, whether in pretense or in truth, Christ is preached; and in this I rejoice, yes, and will rejoice.
  100. and not in any way terrified by your adversaries, which is to them a proof of perdition, but to you of salvation, and that from God.
