For this is the one referred to by Isaiah the prophet when he said, “The voice of one calling out in the wilderness, ‘Prepare the way of the Lord, Make His paths straight!’”

This happened so that what was spoken through Isaiah the prophet would be fulfilled:

And the scroll of Isaiah the prophet was handed to Him. And He unrolled the scroll and found the place where it was written:

He said, “I am the voice of one calling out in the wilderness, ‘Make the way of the Lord straight,’ as Isaiah the prophet said.”

This happened so that the word of Isaiah the prophet which he spoke would be fulfilled: “Lord, who has believed our report? And to whom has the arm of the Lord been revealed?”

For this reason they could not believe, for Isaiah said again,

These things Isaiah said because he saw His glory, and he spoke about Him.

and he was returning and sitting in his chariot, and was reading Isaiah the prophet.

Philip ran up and heard him reading Isaiah the prophet, and said, “Do you understand what you are reading?”

And when they disagreed with one another, they began leaving after Paul said one parting statement: “The Holy Spirit rightly spoke through Isaiah the prophet to your fathers,

Isaiah cries out concerning Israel, “Though the number of the sons of Israel may be like the sand of the sea, only the remnant will be saved;

And just as Isaiah foretold: “If the Lord of armies had not left us descendants, We would have become like Sodom, and would have been like Gomorrah.”

However, they did not all heed the good news; for Isaiah says, “Lord, who has believed our report?”

And Isaiah is very bold and says, “I was found by those who did not seek Me, I revealed Myself to those who did not ask for Me.”

Again Isaiah says, “There shall come the root of Jesse, And He who arises to rule over the Gentiles, In Him will the Gentiles hope.”
