Giving to the Poor and Prayer

“Beware of doing your righteousness before men to be noticed by them; otherwise you have no reward with your Father who is in heaven.

[But this kind does not go out except by prayer and fasting.” ]

And He *said to them, “It is written, ‘My house shall be called a house of prayer’; but you are making it a robbers’ den.”

And all things you ask in prayer, believing, you will receive.”

[Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites, because you devour widows’ houses, and for a pretense you make long prayers; therefore you will receive greater condemnation. ]

And He said to them, “This kind cannot come out by anything but prayer.”
