  1. The Birth of Jesus Christ

    Now the birth of Jesus Christ took place in this way. When his mother Mary had been betrothed to Joseph, before they came together she was found to be with child from the Holy Spirit.
  2. All this took place to fulfill what the Lord had spoken by the prophet:
  3. When Joseph woke from sleep, he did as the angel of the Lord commanded him: he took his wife,
  4. And he rose and took the child and his mother by night and departed to Egypt
  5. And he rose and took the child and his mother and went to the land of Israel.
  6. Then the devil took him to the holy city and set him on the pinnacle of the temple
  7. Again, the devil took him to a very high mountain and showed him all the kingdoms of the world and their glory.
  8. This was to fulfill what was spoken by the prophet Isaiah: “He took our illnesses and bore our diseases.”
  9. But when the crowd had been put outside, he went in and took her by the hand, and the girl arose.
  10. The Mustard Seed and the Leaven

    He put another parable before them, saying, “The kingdom of heaven is like a grain of mustard seed that a man took and sowed in his field.
  11. He told them another parable. “The kingdom of heaven is like leaven that a woman took and hid in three measures of flour, till it was all leavened.”
  12. And they took offense at him. But Jesus said to them, “A prophet is not without honor except in his hometown and in his own household.”
  13. And his disciples came and took the body and buried it, and they went and told Jesus.
  14. And they all ate and were satisfied. And they took up twelve baskets full of the broken pieces left over.
  15. Jesus immediately reached out his hand and took hold of him, saying to him, “O you of little faith, why did you doubt?”
  16. he took the seven loaves and the fish, and having given thanks he broke them and gave them to the disciples, and the disciples gave them to the crowds.
  17. And they all ate and were satisfied. And they took up seven baskets full of the broken pieces left over.
  18. And Peter took him aside and began to rebuke him, saying, “Far be it from you, Lord! This shall never happen to you.”
  19. The Transfiguration

    And after six days Jesus took with him Peter and James, and John his brother, and led them up a high mountain by themselves.
  20. Jesus Foretells His Death a Third Time

    And as Jesus was going up to Jerusalem, he took the twelve disciples aside, and on the way he said to them,
  21. This took place to fulfill what was spoken by the prophet, saying,
  22. And the tenants took his servants and beat one, killed another, and stoned another.
  23. And they took him and threw him out of the vineyard and killed him.

  32. Pilate Delivers Jesus to Be Crucified

    So when Pilate saw that he was gaining nothing, but rather that a riot was beginning, he took water and washed his hands before the crowd, saying, “I am innocent of this man's blood; see to it yourselves.”
  33. Jesus Is Mocked

    Then the soldiers of the governor took Jesus into the governor's headquarters, and they gathered the whole battalion before him.
  34. And they spit on him and took the reed and struck him on the head.
  35. And one of them at once ran and took a sponge, filled it with sour wine, and put it on a reed and gave it to him to drink.
  36. When the centurion and those who were with him, keeping watch over Jesus, saw the earthquake and what took place, they were filled with awe and said, “Truly this was the Son of God!”
  37. And Joseph took the body and wrapped it in a clean linen shroud
  38. And behold, Jesus met them and said, “Greetings!” And they came up and took hold of his feet and worshiped him.
  39. So they took the money and did as they were directed. And this story has been spread among the Jews to this day.
  40. And he came and took her by the hand and lifted her up, and the fever left her, and she began to serve them.
  41. And leaving the crowd, they took him with them in the boat, just as he was. And other boats were with him.
  42. And they laughed at him. But he put them all outside and took the child's father and mother and those who were with him and went in where the child was.
  43. Is not this the carpenter, the son of Mary and brother of James and Joses and Judas and Simon? And are not his sisters here with us?” And they took offense at him.
  44. When his disciples heard of it, they came and took his body and laid it in a tomb.
  45. And they took up twelve baskets full of broken pieces and of the fish.
  46. And he directed the crowd to sit down on the ground. And he took the seven loaves, and having given thanks, he broke them and gave them to his disciples to set before the people; and they set them before the crowd.
  47. And they ate and were satisfied. And they took up the broken pieces left over, seven baskets full.
  48. And he took the blind man by the hand and led him out of the village, and when he had spit on his eyes and laid his hands on him, he asked him, “Do you see anything?”
  49. And he said this plainly. And Peter took him aside and began to rebuke him.
  50. The Transfiguration

    And after six days Jesus took with him Peter and James and John, and led them up a high mountain by themselves. And he was transfigured before them,
  51. But Jesus took him by the hand and lifted him up, and he arose.
  52. And he took a child and put him in the midst of them, and taking him in his arms, he said to them,
  53. And he took them in his arms and blessed them, laying his hands on them.
  54. And they took him and beat him and sent him away empty-handed.
  55. And they took him and killed him and threw him out of the vineyard.
  56. There were seven brothers; the first took a wife, and when he died left no offspring.
  57. And the second took her, and died, leaving no offspring. And the third likewise.
  58. Institution of the Lord's Supper

    And as they were eating, he took bread, and after blessing it broke it and gave it to them, and said, “Take; this is my body.”
  59. And he took a cup, and when he had given thanks he gave it to them, and they all drank of it.
  60. And he took with him Peter and James and John, and began to be greatly distressed and troubled.
  61. Joseph of Arimathea, a respected member of the council, who was also himself looking for the kingdom of God, took courage and went to Pilate and asked for the body of Jesus.
  62. he took him up in his arms and blessed God and said,
  63. And the devil took him up and showed him all the kingdoms of the world in a moment of time,
  64. And he took him to Jerusalem and set him on the pinnacle of the temple and said to him, “If you are the Son of God, throw yourself down from here,
  65. And Simon answered, “Master, we toiled all night and took nothing! But at your word I will let down the nets.”
  66. how he entered the house of God and took and ate the bread of the Presence, which is not lawful for any but the priests to eat, and also gave it to those with him?”
  67. Jesus Feeds the Five Thousand

    On their return the apostles told him all that they had done. And he took them and withdrew apart to a town called Bethsaida.
  68. The Transfiguration

    Now about eight days after these sayings he took with him Peter and John and James and went up on the mountain to pray.
  69. But Jesus, knowing the reasoning of their hearts, took a child and put him by his side
  70. He went to him and bound up his wounds, pouring on oil and wine. Then he set him on his own animal and brought him to an inn and took care of him.
  71. And the next day he took out two denarii and gave them to the innkeeper, saying, ‘Take care of him, and whatever more you spend, I will repay you when I come back.’
  72. It is like a grain of mustard seed that a man took and sowed in his garden, and it grew and became a tree, and the birds of the air made nests in its branches.”
  73. It is like leaven that a woman took and hid in three measures of flour, until it was all leavened.”
  74. But they remained silent. Then he took him and healed him and sent him away.
  75. Not many days later, the younger son gathered all he had and took a journey into a far country, and there he squandered his property in reckless living.
  76. Now there were seven brothers. The first took a wife, and died without children.
  77. and the third took her, and likewise all seven left no children and died.
  78. And he took a cup, and when he had given thanks he said, “Take this, and divide it among yourselves.
  79. And he took bread, and when he had given thanks, he broke it and gave it to them, saying, “This is my body, which is given for you. Do this in remembrance of me.”
  80. Then he took it down and wrapped it in a linen shroud and laid him in a tomb cut in stone, where no one had ever yet been laid.
  81. When he was at table with them, he took the bread and blessed and broke it and gave it to them.
  82. and he took it and ate before them.
  83. These things took place in Bethany across the Jordan, where John was baptizing.
  84. And he said to them, “Now draw some out and take it to the master of the feast.” So they took it.
  85. And at once the man was healed, and he took up his bed and walked. Now that day was the Sabbath.
  86. Jesus then took the loaves, and when he had given thanks, he distributed them to those who were seated. So also the fish, as much as they wanted.
  87. I and the Father Are One

    At that time the Feast of Dedication took place at Jerusalem. It was winter,
  88. So they took away the stone. And Jesus lifted up his eyes and said, “Father, I thank you that you have heard me.
  89. Mary therefore took a pound of expensive ointment made from pure nard, and anointed the feet of Jesus and wiped his feet with her hair. The house was filled with the fragrance of the perfume.
  90. So they took branches of palm trees and went out to meet him, crying out, “Hosanna! Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord, even the King of Israel!”
  91. Jesus Delivered to Be Crucified

    Then Pilate took Jesus and flogged him.
  92. So he delivered him over to them to be crucified.

    The Crucifixion

    So they took Jesus,
  93. When the soldiers had crucified Jesus, they took his garments and divided them into four parts, one part for each soldier; also his tunic. But the tunic was seamless, woven in one piece from top to bottom,
  94. Then he said to the disciple, “Behold, your mother!” And from that hour the disciple took her to his own home.
  95. For these things took place that the Scripture might be fulfilled: “Not one of his bones will be broken.”
  96. Jesus Is Buried

    After these things Joseph of Arimathea, who was a disciple of Jesus, but secretly for fear of the Jews, asked Pilate that he might take away the body of Jesus, and Pilate gave him permission. So he came and took away his body.
  97. So they took the body of Jesus and bound it in linen cloths with the spices, as is the burial custom of the Jews.
  98. Jesus came and took the bread and gave it to them, and so with the fish.
  99. And when he had said these things, as they were looking on, he was lifted up, and a cloud took him out of their sight.
  100. And he took him by the right hand and raised him up, and immediately his feet and ankles were made strong.
  101. but if it is of God, you will not be able to overthrow them. You might even be found opposing God!” So they took his advice,
  102. You took up the tent of Moloch and the star of your god Rephan, the images that you made to worship; and I will send you into exile beyond Babylon.’
  103. but his disciples took him by night and let him down through an opening in the wall, lowering him in a basket.
  104. But Barnabas took him and brought him to the apostles and declared to them how on the road he had seen the Lord, who spoke to him, and how at Damascus he had preached boldly in the name of Jesus.
  105. So Peter rose and went with them. And when he arrived, they took him to the upper room. All the widows stood beside him weeping and showing tunics and other garments that Dorcas made while she was with them.
  106. And one of them named Agabus stood up and foretold by the Spirit that there would be a great famine over all the world (this took place in the days of Claudius).
  107. On an appointed day Herod put on his royal robes, took his seat upon the throne, and delivered an oration to them.
  108. All this took about 450 years. And after that he gave them judges until Samuel the prophet.
  109. And when they had carried out all that was written of him, they took him down from the tree and laid him in a tomb.
  110. And there arose a sharp disagreement, so that they separated from each other. Barnabas took Mark with him and sailed away to Cyprus,
  111. Paul wanted Timothy to accompany him, and he took him and circumcised him because of the Jews who were in those places, for they all knew that his father was a Greek.
  112. And he took them the same hour of the night and washed their wounds; and he was baptized at once, he and all his family.
  113. So they came and apologized to them. And they took them out and asked them to leave the city.
  114. And they took him and brought him to the Areopagus, saying, “May we know what this new teaching is that you are presenting?
  115. Paul Returns to Antioch

    After this, Paul stayed many days longer and then took leave of the brothers and set sail for Syria, and with him Priscilla and Aquila. At Cenchreae he had cut his hair, for he was under a vow.
  116. He began to speak boldly in the synagogue, but when Priscilla and Aquila heard him, they took him aside and explained to him the way of God more accurately.
  117. But when some became stubborn and continued in unbelief, speaking evil of the Way before the congregation, he withdrew from them and took the disciples with him, reasoning daily in the hall of Tyrannus.
  118. And they took the youth away alive, and were not a little comforted.
  119. And when he met us at Assos, we took him on board and went to Mitylene.
  120. And coming to us, he took Paul's belt and bound his own feet and hands and said, “Thus says the Holy Spirit, ‘This is how the Jews at Jerusalem will bind the man who owns this belt and deliver him into the hands of the Gentiles.’”
  121. Then Paul took the men, and the next day he purified himself along with them and went into the temple, giving notice when the days of purification would be fulfilled and the offering presented for each one of them.
  122. He at once took soldiers and centurions and ran down to them. And when they saw the tribune and the soldiers, they stopped beating Paul.
  123. So he took him and brought him to the tribune and said, “Paul the prisoner called me and asked me to bring this young man to you, as he has something to say to you.”
  124. The tribune took him by the hand, and going aside asked him privately, “What is it that you have to tell me?”
  125. So the soldiers, according to their instructions, took Paul and brought him by night to Antipatris.
  126. After he stayed among them not more than eight or ten days, he went down to Caesarea. And the next day he took his seat on the tribunal and ordered Paul to be brought.
  127. So when they came together here, I made no delay, but on the next day took my seat on the tribunal and ordered the man to be brought.
  128. So they took a sounding and found twenty fathoms. A little farther on they took a sounding again and found fifteen fathoms.
  129. And when he had said these things, he took bread, and giving thanks to God in the presence of all he broke it and began to eat.
  130. And the brothers there, when they heard about us, came as far as the Forum of Appius and Three Taverns to meet us. On seeing them, Paul thanked God and took courage.
  131. Now these things took place as examples for us, that we might not desire evil as they did.
  132. For I received from the Lord what I also delivered to you, that the Lord Jesus on the night when he was betrayed took bread,
  133. In the same way also he took the cup, after supper, saying, “This cup is the new covenant in my blood. Do this, as often as you drink it, in remembrance of me.”
  134. my spirit was not at rest because I did not find my brother Titus there. So I took leave of them and went on to Macedonia.
  135. not like the covenant that I made with their fathers on the day when I took them by the hand to bring them out of the land of Egypt. For they did not continue in my covenant, and so I showed no concern for them, declares the Lord.
  136. For when every commandment of the law had been declared by Moses to all the people, he took the blood of calves and goats, with water and scarlet wool and hyssop, and sprinkled both the book itself and all the people,
  137. And he went and took the scroll from the right hand of him who was seated on the throne.
  138. Then the angel took the censer and filled it with fire from the altar and threw it on the earth, and there were peals of thunder, rumblings, flashes of lightning, and an earthquake.
  139. And I took the little scroll from the hand of the angel and ate it. It was sweet as honey in my mouth, but when I had eaten it my stomach was made bitter.
  140. Then a mighty angel took up a stone like a great millstone and threw it into the sea, saying, “So will Babylon the great city be thrown down with violence, and will be found no more;
