  14. A Living Sacrifice

    I appeal to you therefore, brothers, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God, which is your spiritual worship.
  15. Cleanse out the old leaven that you may be a new lump, as you really are unleavened. For Christ, our Passover lamb, has been sacrificed.
  16. Consider the people of Israel: are not those who eat the sacrifices participants in the altar?
  17. No, I imply that what pagans sacrifice they offer to demons and not to God. I do not want you to be participants with demons.
  18. But if someone says to you, “This has been offered in sacrifice,” then do not eat it, for the sake of the one who informed you, and for the sake of conscience—
  19. And walk in love, as Christ loved us and gave himself up for us, a fragrant offering and sacrifice to God.
  20. I have received full payment, and more. I am well supplied, having received from Epaphroditus the gifts you sent, a fragrant offering, a sacrifice acceptable and pleasing to God.
  21. For every high priest chosen from among men is appointed to act on behalf of men in relation to God, to offer gifts and sacrifices for sins.
  22. Because of this he is obligated to offer sacrifice for his own sins just as he does for those of the people.
  23. He has no need, like those high priests, to offer sacrifices daily, first for his own sins and then for those of the people, since he did this once for all when he offered up himself.

  26. Thus it was necessary for the copies of the heavenly things to be purified with these rites, but the heavenly things themselves with better sacrifices than these.
  27. for then he would have had to suffer repeatedly since the foundation of the world. But as it is, he has appeared once for all at the end of the ages to put away sin by the sacrifice of himself.
  28. Christ's Sacrifice Once for All

    For since the law has but a shadow of the good things to come instead of the true form of these realities, it can never, by the same sacrifices that are continually offered every year, make perfect those who draw near.
  29. But in these sacrifices there is a reminder of sins every year.
  30. Consequently, when Christ came into the world, he said, “Sacrifices and offerings you have not desired, but a body have you prepared for me;
  31. When he said above, “You have neither desired nor taken pleasure in sacrifices and offerings and burnt offerings and sin offerings” (these are offered according to the law),
  32. And every priest stands daily at his service, offering repeatedly the same sacrifices, which can never take away sins.
  33. But when Christ had offered for all time a single sacrifice for sins, he sat down at the right hand of God,
  34. For if we go on sinning deliberately after receiving the knowledge of the truth, there no longer remains a sacrifice for sins,
  35. By faith Abel offered to God a more acceptable sacrifice than Cain, through which he was commended as righteous, God commending him by accepting his gifts. And through his faith, though he died, he still speaks.
  36. Sacrifices Pleasing to God

    Let brotherly love continue.
  37. For the bodies of those animals whose blood is brought into the holy places by the high priest as a sacrifice for sin are burned outside the camp.
  38. Through him then let us continually offer up a sacrifice of praise to God, that is, the fruit of lips that acknowledge his name.
  39. Do not neglect to do good and to share what you have, for such sacrifices are pleasing to God.
  40. you yourselves like living stones are being built up as a spiritual house, to be a holy priesthood, to offer spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God through Jesus Christ.
  41. But I have a few things against you: you have some there who hold the teaching of Balaam, who taught Balak to put a stumbling block before the sons of Israel, so that they might eat food sacrificed to idols and practice sexual immorality.
  42. But I have this against you, that you tolerate that woman Jezebel, who calls herself a prophetess and is teaching and seducing my servants to practice sexual immorality and to eat food sacrificed to idols.
