  9. Pilate Delivers Jesus to Be Crucified

    So when Pilate saw that he was gaining nothing, but rather that a riot was beginning, he took water and washed his hands before the crowd, saying, “I am innocent of this man's blood; see to it yourselves.”
  10. And all the people answered, “His blood be on us and on our children!”
  11. And there was a woman who had had a discharge of blood for twelve years,
  12. And immediately the flow of blood dried up, and she felt in her body that she was healed of her disease.
  13. And he said to them, “This is my blood of the covenant, which is poured out for many.
  14. And there was a woman who had had a discharge of blood for twelve years, and though she had spent all her living on physicians, she could not be healed by anyone.
  15. She came up behind him and touched the fringe of his garment, and immediately her discharge of blood ceased.
  16. so that the blood of all the prophets, shed from the foundation of the world, may be charged against this generation,
  17. from the blood of Abel to the blood of Zechariah, who perished between the altar and the sanctuary. Yes, I tell you, it will be required of this generation.
  18. Repent or Perish

    There were some present at that very time who told him about the Galileans whose blood Pilate had mingled with their sacrifices.
  19. And likewise the cup after they had eaten, saying, “This cup that is poured out for you is the new covenant in my blood.

  41. The cup of blessing that we bless, is it not a participation in the blood of Christ? The bread that we break, is it not a participation in the body of Christ?
  42. In the same way also he took the cup, after supper, saying, “This cup is the new covenant in my blood. Do this, as often as you drink it, in remembrance of me.”
  43. Whoever, therefore, eats the bread or drinks the cup of the Lord in an unworthy manner will be guilty concerning the body and blood of the Lord.
  44. Mystery and Victory

    I tell you this, brothers: flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God, nor does the perishable inherit the imperishable.
  45. In him we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of our trespasses, according to the riches of his grace,
  46. But now in Christ Jesus you who once were far off have been brought near by the blood of Christ.
  47. For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the cosmic powers over this present darkness, against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly places.

  51. Redemption Through the Blood of Christ

    But when Christ appeared as a high priest of the good things that have come, then through the greater and more perfect tent (not made with hands, that is, not of this creation)
  52. he entered once for all into the holy places, not by means of the blood of goats and calves but by means of his own blood, thus securing an eternal redemption.
  53. For if the blood of goats and bulls, and the sprinkling of defiled persons with the ashes of a heifer, sanctify for the purification of the flesh,
  54. how much more will the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered himself without blemish to God, purify our conscience from dead works to serve the living God.
  55. Therefore not even the first covenant was inaugurated without blood.
  56. For when every commandment of the law had been declared by Moses to all the people, he took the blood of calves and goats, with water and scarlet wool and hyssop, and sprinkled both the book itself and all the people,
  57. saying, “This is the blood of the covenant that God commanded for you.”
  58. And in the same way he sprinkled with the blood both the tent and all the vessels used in worship.
  59. Indeed, under the law almost everything is purified with blood, and without the shedding of blood there is no forgiveness of sins.
  60. Nor was it to offer himself repeatedly, as the high priest enters the holy places every year with blood not his own,
  61. For it is impossible for the blood of bulls and goats to take away sins.
  62. The Full Assurance of Faith

    Therefore, brothers, since we have confidence to enter the holy places by the blood of Jesus,
  63. How much worse punishment, do you think, will be deserved by the one who has trampled underfoot the Son of God, and has profaned the blood of the covenant by which he was sanctified, and has outraged the Spirit of grace?
  64. By faith he kept the Passover and sprinkled the blood, so that the Destroyer of the firstborn might not touch them.
  65. In your struggle against sin you have not yet resisted to the point of shedding your blood.
  66. and to Jesus, the mediator of a new covenant, and to the sprinkled blood that speaks a better word than the blood of Abel.
  67. For the bodies of those animals whose blood is brought into the holy places by the high priest as a sacrifice for sin are burned outside the camp.
  68. So Jesus also suffered outside the gate in order to sanctify the people through his own blood.
  69. Benediction

    Now may the God of peace who brought again from the dead our Lord Jesus, the great shepherd of the sheep, by the blood of the eternal covenant,
  70. according to the foreknowledge of God the Father, in the sanctification of the Spirit, for obedience to Jesus Christ and for sprinkling with his blood: May grace and peace be multiplied to you.
  71. but with the precious blood of Christ, like that of a lamb without blemish or spot.
  72. But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus his Son cleanses us from all sin.
  73. Testimony Concerning the Son of God

    This is he who came by water and blood—Jesus Christ; not by the water only but by the water and the blood. And the Spirit is the one who testifies, because the Spirit is the truth.
  74. the Spirit and the water and the blood; and these three agree.
  75. and from Jesus Christ the faithful witness, the firstborn of the dead, and the ruler of kings on earth. To him who loves us and has freed us from our sins by his blood

  90. for his judgments are true and just; for he has judged the great prostitute who corrupted the earth with her immorality, and has avenged on her the blood of his servants.”
  91. He is clothed in a robe dipped in blood, and the name by which he is called is The Word of God.
