  1. Ye have heard that it was said by them of old time, Thou shalt not kill; and whosoever shall kill shall be in danger of the judgment:
  2. but I say unto you, That whosoever is angry with his brother without a cause shall be in danger of the judgment: and whosoever shall say to his brother, Raca, shall be in danger of the council: but whosoever shall say, Thou fool, shall be in danger of hell fire.
  3. and saying, We have piped unto you, and ye have not danced; we have mourned unto you, and ye have not lamented.
  4. But when Herod’s birthday was kept, the daughter of Herodias danced before them, and pleased Herod.
  5. When ye therefore shall see the abomination of desolation, spoken of by Daniel the prophet, stand in the holy place, (whoso readeth, let him understand:)
  6. but he that shall blaspheme against the Holy Ghost hath never forgiveness, but is in danger of eternal damnation:
  7. and when the daughter of the said Herodias came in, and danced, and pleased Herod and them that sat with him, the king said unto the damsel, Ask of me whatsoever thou wilt, and I will give it thee.
  8. But when ye shall see the abomination of desolation, spoken of by Daniel the prophet, standing where it ought not, (let him that readeth understand,) then let them that be in Judæa flee to the mountains:
  9. They are like unto children sitting in the marketplace, and calling one to another, and saying, We have piped unto you, and ye have not danced; we have mourned to you, and ye have not wept.
  10. Now his elder son was in the field: and as he came and drew nigh to the house, he heard musick and dancing.
  11. so that not only this our craft is in danger to be set at nought; but also that the temple of the great goddess Diana should be despised, and her magnificence should be destroyed, whom all Asia and the world worshippeth.
  12. For we are in danger to be called in question for this day’s uproar, there being no cause whereby we may give an account of this concourse.
  13. Now when much time was spent, and when sailing was now dangerous, because the fast was now already past, Paul admonished them,
