Forefathers of Yeshua the Messiah
The book of the genealogy of Yeshua ha-Mashiach, Ben-David, Ben-Avraham:
-
and Jesse fathered David the king. David fathered Solomon by the wife of Uriah,
-
So all the generations from Abraham to David are fourteen generations, from David until the Babylonian exile are fourteen generations, and from the Babylonian exile until the Messiah are fourteen generations.
-
But while he considered these things, behold, an angel of Adonai appeared to him in a dream, saying, “Joseph son of David, do not be afraid to take Miriam as your wife, for the Child conceived in her is from the Ruach ha-Kodesh.
-
As Yeshua went on from there, two blind men followed Him, crying out, “Ben-David, have mercy on us!”
-
But He said to them, “Haven’t you read what David did when he became hungry, and those with him?
-
All the crowds were astounded and saying, “This can’t be Ben-David, can it?”
-
And behold, a Canaanite woman from that district came out and started shouting, “Have mercy on me, O Master, Ben-David! My daughter is severely tormented by a demon.”
-
And here two blind men sitting by the roadside, when they heard that Yeshua was passing by, cried out, saying, “Have mercy on us, O Master, Ben-David!”
-
The crowd warned them to be quiet, but they cried out all the more, saying, “Have mercy on us, O Master, Ben-David!”
-
The crowds going before Him and those following kept shouting, saying, “Hoshia-na to Ben-David! Baruch ha-ba b’shem Adonai! Blessed is He who comes in the name of the Lord! Hoshia-na in the highest!”
-
But when the ruling kohanim and Torah scholars saw the wonders He performed, and the children crying out in the Temple and saying, “Hoshia-na to Ben-David,” they became indignant.
-
saying, “What do you think about the Messiah? Whose Son is He?” “David’s,” they say to Him.
-
“Then how is it,” He says to them, “that David by the Ruach calls him ‘Lord’?
-
If David then calls Him ‘Lord,’ how is He his son?”
