  10. And when the demon was driven out, the man who had been mute spoke. The crowd was amazed and said, “Nothing like this has ever been seen in Israel.”
  11. These twelve Jesus sent out with the following instructions: “Do not go among the Gentiles or enter any town of the Samaritans.

  15. The seed falling among the thorns refers to someone who hears the word, but the worries of this life and the deceitfulness of wealth choke the word, making it unfruitful.
  16. Coming to his hometown, he began teaching the people in their synagogue, and they were amazed. “Where did this man get this wisdom and these miraculous powers?” they asked.
  17. The people were amazed when they saw the mute speaking, the crippled made well, the lame walking and the blind seeing. And they praised the God of Israel.
  18. They discussed this among themselves and said, “It is because we didn’t bring any bread.”
  19. “But what about you?” he asked. “Who do you say I am?”
  20. While he was still speaking, a bright cloud covered them, and a voice from the cloud said, “This is my Son, whom I love; with him I am well pleased. Listen to him!”
  21. For where two or three gather in my name, there am I with them.”
  22. “But he answered one of them, ‘I am not being unfair to you, friend. Didn’t you agree to work for a denarius?
  23. Don’t I have the right to do what I want with my own money? Or are you envious because I am generous?’
  24. “You don’t know what you are asking,” Jesus said to them. “Can you drink the cup I am going to drink?” “We can,” they answered.
  25. Not so with you. Instead, whoever wants to become great among you must be your servant,
