  1. The Cloud Above the Tabernacle

    On the day the tabernacle, the tent of the covenant law, was set up, the cloud covered it. From evening till morning the cloud above the tabernacle looked like fire.
  2. That is how it continued to be; the cloud covered it, and at night it looked like fire.
  3. Whenever the cloud lifted from above the tent, the Israelites set out; wherever the cloud settled, the Israelites encamped.
  4. At the Lord’s command the Israelites set out, and at his command they encamped. As long as the cloud stayed over the tabernacle, they remained in camp.
  5. When the cloud remained over the tabernacle a long time, the Israelites obeyed the Lord’s order and did not set out.

  9. The Israelites Leave Sinai

    On the twentieth day of the second month of the second year, the cloud lifted from above the tabernacle of the covenant law.
  10. Then the Israelites set out from the Desert of Sinai and traveled from place to place until the cloud came to rest in the Desert of Paran.
  11. The cloud of the Lord was over them by day when they set out from the camp.
  12. Then the Lord came down in the cloud and spoke with him, and he took some of the power of the Spirit that was on him and put it on the seventy elders. When the Spirit rested on them, they prophesied—but did not do so again.

  15. And they will tell the inhabitants of this land about it. They have already heard that you, Lord, are with these people and that you, Lord, have been seen face to face, that your cloud stays over them, and that you go before them in a pillar of cloud by day and a pillar of fire by night.
  16. But when the assembly gathered in opposition to Moses and Aaron and turned toward the tent of meeting, suddenly the cloud covered it and the glory of the Lord appeared.
