  1. But the house of Israel will not be willing to listen to you, for they are not willing to listen to me, because all the house of Israel have a hard forehead and a stubborn heart.
  2. He said to me, “Mortal, all my words that I shall speak to you receive in your heart and hear with your ears;

Your survivors shall remember me among the nations where they are carried captive, how I was crushed by their wanton heart that turned away from me and their wanton eyes that turned after their idols. Therefore speak to them, and say to them: Thus says the Lord God: Any of those of the house of Israel who take their idols into their hearts and place their iniquity as a stumbling block before them and yet come to the prophet, I the Lord will answer those who come with the multitude of their idols,
  8. in order that I may take hold of the hearts of the house of Israel, all of whom are estranged from me through their idols.
  9. For any of those of the house of Israel or of the aliens who reside in Israel who separate themselves from me, taking their idols into their hearts and placing their iniquity as a stumbling block before them and yet come to a prophet to inquire of me by him, I the Lord will answer them myself.
  10. How sick is your heart, says the Lord God, that you did all these things, the deeds of a brazen prostitute,
  11. Cast away from you all the transgressions that you have committed against me, and get yourselves a new heart and a new spirit! Why will you die, O house of Israel?
  12. because they rejected my ordinances and did not observe my statutes and profaned my Sabbaths, for their heart went after their idols.
  13. And when they say to you, “Why do you moan?” you shall say, “Because of the news that has come. Every heart will melt, and all hands will be feeble, every spirit will faint, and all knees will turn to water. See, it comes and it will be fulfilled,” says the Lord God.
  14. therefore hearts melt, and many stumble. At all their gates I have set the point of the sword. Ah! It is made for flashing; it is drawn for slaughter.
  15. Say to the house of Israel: Thus says the Lord God: I will profane my sanctuary, the pride of your power, the delight of your eyes, and your heart’s desire, and your sons and your daughters whom you left behind shall fall by the sword.
  16. And you, mortal, on the day when I take from them their stronghold, their joy and glory, the delight of their eyes and their heart’s affection, and also their sons and their daughters,

  22. Mortal, say to the prince of Tyre: Thus says the Lord God: Because your heart is proud and you have said, “I am a god; I sit in the seat of the gods, in the heart of the seas,” yet you are but a mortal and no god, though you compare your mind with the mind of a god.
  23. By your great wisdom in trade you have increased your wealth, and your heart has become proud in your wealth.
  24. They shall thrust you down to the Pit, and you shall die a violent death in the heart of the seas.
  25. Your heart was proud because of your beauty; you corrupted your wisdom for the sake of your splendor. I cast you to the ground; I exposed you before kings, to feast their eyes on you.
