None of the righteous things that person has done will be remembered. Because of the unfaithfulness they are guilty of and because of the sins they have committed, they will die.
  10. If a righteous person turns from their righteousness and commits sin, they will die for it; because of the sin they have committed they will die.
  11. But if a wicked person turns away from the wickedness they have committed and does what is just and right, they will save their life.
  12. Because they consider all the offenses they have committed and turn away from them, that person will surely live; they will not die.
  13. Rid yourselves of all the offenses you have committed, and get a new heart and a new spirit. Why will you die, people of Israel?
  14. In you are slanderers who are bent on shedding blood; in you are those who eat at the mountain shrines and commit lewd acts.
  15. In you one man commits a detestable offense with his neighbor’s wife, another shamefully defiles his daughter-in-law, and another violates his sister, his own father’s daughter.
  16. The people of the land practice extortion and commit robbery; they oppress the poor and needy and mistreat the foreigner, denying them justice.
  17. for they have committed adultery and blood is on their hands. They committed adultery with their idols; they even sacrificed their children, whom they bore to me, as food for them.
  18. But righteous judges will sentence them to the punishment of women who commit adultery and shed blood, because they are adulterous and blood is on their hands.
  19. None of the sins that person has committed will be remembered against them. They have done what is just and right; they will surely live.
