  7. “Son of man, prophesy against the prophets of Israel, who are prophesying, and say to those who prophesy from their own hearts: ‘Hear the word of the Lord!’
  8. “And you, son of man, set your face against the daughters of your people, who prophesy out of their own hearts. Prophesy against them
  9. “Son of man, these men have taken their idols into their hearts, and set the stumbling block of their iniquity before their faces. Should I indeed let myself be consulted by them?
  10. Therefore speak to them and say to them, Thus says the Lord God: Any one of the house of Israel who takes his idols into his heart and sets the stumbling block of his iniquity before his face, and yet comes to the prophet, I the Lord will answer him as he comes with the multitude of his idols,
  11. that I may lay hold of the hearts of the house of Israel, who are all estranged from me through their idols.
  12. For any one of the house of Israel, or of the strangers who sojourn in Israel, who separates himself from me, taking his idols into his heart and putting the stumbling block of his iniquity before his face, and yet comes to a prophet to consult me through him, I the Lord will answer him myself.
  13. “How sick is your heart, declares the Lord God, because you did all these things, the deeds of a brazen prostitute,
  14. Cast away from you all the transgressions that you have committed, and make yourselves a new heart and a new spirit! Why will you die, O house of Israel?
  15. because they rejected my rules and did not walk in my statutes, and profaned my Sabbaths; for their heart went after their idols.
  16. “As for you, son of man, groan; with breaking heart and bitter grief, groan before their eyes.
  17. And when they say to you, ‘Why do you groan?’ you shall say, ‘Because of the news that it is coming. Every heart will melt, and all hands will be feeble; every spirit will faint, and all knees will be weak as water. Behold, it is coming, and it will be fulfilled,’” declares the Lord God.
  18. that their hearts may melt, and many stumble. At all their gates I have given the glittering sword. Ah, it is made like lightning; it is taken up for slaughter.
  19. Your borders are in the heart of the seas; your builders made perfect your beauty.

  21. “Your rowers have brought you out into the high seas. The east wind has wrecked you in the heart of the seas.
  22. Your riches, your wares, your merchandise, your mariners and your pilots, your caulkers, your dealers in merchandise, and all your men of war who are in you, with all your crew that is in your midst, sink into the heart of the seas on the day of your fall.
  23. “Son of man, say to the prince of Tyre, Thus says the Lord God: “Because your heart is proud, and you have said, ‘I am a god, I sit in the seat of the gods, in the heart of the seas,’ yet you are but a man, and no god, though you make your heart like the heart of a god—
  24. by your great wisdom in your trade you have increased your wealth, and your heart has become proud in your wealth—
  25. therefore thus says the Lord God: Because you make your heart like the heart of a god,
  26. They shall thrust you down into the pit, and you shall die the death of the slain in the heart of the seas.
  27. Your heart was proud because of your beauty; you corrupted your wisdom for the sake of your splendor. I cast you to the ground; I exposed you before kings, to feast their eyes on you.
  28. “Therefore thus says the Lord God: Because it towered high and set its top among the clouds, and its heart was proud of its height,
  29. “I will trouble the hearts of many peoples, when I bring your destruction among the nations, into the countries that you have not known.
  30. And they come to you as people come, and they sit before you as my people, and they hear what you say but they will not do it; for with lustful talk in their mouths they act; their heart is set on their gain.
  31. And I will give you a new heart, and a new spirit I will put within you. And I will remove the heart of stone from your flesh and give you a heart of flesh.
  32. And the man said to me, “Son of man, look with your eyes, and hear with your ears, and set your heart upon all that I shall show you, for you were brought here in order that I might show it to you. Declare all that you see to the house of Israel.”
  33. and the altar hearth, four cubits; and from the altar hearth projecting upward, four horns.
  34. The altar hearth shall be square, twelve cubits long by twelve broad.
  35. in admitting foreigners, uncircumcised in heart and flesh, to be in my sanctuary, profaning my temple, when you offer to me my food, the fat and the blood. You have broken my covenant, in addition to all your abominations.
  36. “Thus says the Lord God: No foreigner, uncircumcised in heart and flesh, of all the foreigners who are among the people of Israel, shall enter my sanctuary.
  37. On the inside, around each of the four courts was a row of masonry, with hearths made at the bottom of the rows all around.
