  8. In this way he will make atonement for the Most Holy Place because of the uncleanness and rebellion of the Israelites, whatever their sins have been. He is to do the same for the tent of meeting, which is among them in the midst of their uncleanness.
  9. “This is to be a lasting ordinance for you: On the tenth day of the seventh month you must deny yourselves and not do any work—whether native-born or a foreigner residing among you—
  10. “Say to them: ‘Any Israelite or any foreigner residing among them who offers a burnt offering or sacrifice
  11. “‘I will set my face against any Israelite or any foreigner residing among them who eats blood, and I will cut them off from the people.
  12. Therefore I say to the Israelites, “None of you may eat blood, nor may any foreigner residing among you eat blood.”
  13. “‘Any Israelite or any foreigner residing among you who hunts any animal or bird that may be eaten must drain out the blood and cover it with earth,
  14. “Speak to the Israelites and say to them: ‘I am the Lord your God.
  15. You must not do as they do in Egypt, where you used to live, and you must not do as they do in the land of Canaan, where I am bringing you. Do not follow their practices.
  16. You must obey my laws and be careful to follow my decrees. I am the Lord your God.
  17. Keep my decrees and laws, for the person who obeys them will live by them. I am the Lord.
  18. “‘No one is to approach any close relative to have sexual relations. I am the Lord.
  19. “‘Do not give any of your children to be sacrificed to Molek, for you must not profane the name of your God. I am the Lord.
  20. “‘Do not defile yourselves in any of these ways, because this is how the nations that I am going to drive out before you became defiled.
  21. Keep my requirements and do not follow any of the detestable customs that were practiced before you came and do not defile yourselves with them. I am the Lord your God.’”
  22. “Speak to the entire assembly of Israel and say to them: ‘Be holy because I, the Lord your God, am holy.
  23. “‘Each of you must respect your mother and father, and you must observe my Sabbaths. I am the Lord your God.
  24. “‘Do not turn to idols or make metal gods for yourselves. I am the Lord your God.
  25. Do not go over your vineyard a second time or pick up the grapes that have fallen. Leave them for the poor and the foreigner. I am the Lord your God.
