-
Every male among the children of Aaron may eat of it, as decreed forever throughout your generations, from the Lord's food offerings. Whatever touches them shall become holy.”
-
Purification After Childbirth
The Lord spoke to Moses, saying,
-
“Speak to the people of Israel, saying, If a woman conceives and bears a male child, then she shall be unclean seven days. As at the time of her menstruation, she shall be unclean.
-
But if she bears a female child, then she shall be unclean two weeks, as in her menstruation. And she shall continue in the blood of her purifying for sixty-six days.
-
and he shall offer it before the Lord and make atonement for her. Then she shall be clean from the flow of her blood. This is the law for her who bears a child, either male or female.
-
You shall not give any of your children to offer them to Molech, and so profane the name of your God: I am the Lord.
-
Punishment for Child Sacrifice
The Lord spoke to Moses, saying,
-
“Say to the people of Israel, Any one of the people of Israel or of the strangers who sojourn in Israel who gives any of his children to Molech shall surely be put to death. The people of the land shall stone him with stones.
-
I myself will set my face against that man and will cut him off from among his people, because he has given one of his children to Molech, to make my sanctuary unclean and to profane my holy name.
-
And if the people of the land do at all close their eyes to that man when he gives one of his children to Molech, and do not put him to death,
-
“If a man takes his sister, a daughter of his father or a daughter of his mother, and sees her nakedness, and she sees his nakedness, it is a disgrace, and they shall be cut off in the sight of the children of their people. He has uncovered his sister's nakedness, and he shall bear his iniquity.
-
If a man lies with his uncle's wife, he has uncovered his uncle's nakedness; they shall bear their sin; they shall die childless.
-
If a man takes his brother's wife, it is impurity. He has uncovered his brother's nakedness; they shall be childless.
-
But if a priest's daughter is widowed or divorced and has no child and returns to her father's house, as in her youth, she may eat of her father's food; yet no lay person shall eat of it.
-
Then he shall go out from you, he and his children with him, and go back to his own clan and return to the possession of his fathers.
-
And if he is not redeemed by these means, then he and his children with him shall be released in the year of jubilee.
-
And I will let loose the wild beasts against you, which shall bereave you of your children and destroy your livestock and make you few in number, so that your roads shall be deserted.
