Psalm 7

A song of David to the Eternal regarding Cush, the Benjaminite.

O Eternal my God, in You I seek refuge. Save me from those who are chasing me. Rescue me,

From the mouths and souls of infants and toddlers, the most innocent, You have decreed power to stop Your adversaries and quash those who seek revenge.

The arrogance of the wicked one keeps him from seeking the True God. He truly thinks, “There is no God.”

Psalm 16

A prayer of David.

Protect me, God, for the only safety I know is found in the moments I seek You.

Those who are suffering will eat and be nourished; those who seek Him will praise the Eternal. May your hearts beat strong forever!

TAKE notice of my enemies. See how there are so many of them who hate me and would seek my violent destruction.

The prodding of my heart leads me to chase after You. I am seeking You, Eternal One—don’t retreat from me.

Walk away from the evil things of the world, and always seek peace and pursue it.

The Eternal will liberate His servants; those who seek refuge in Him will never be condemned.

The Eternal comes and frees them— frees them from evildoers and saves them for eternity— simply because they seek shelter in Him.

Because of the taunting and berating of those who are against me, because the enemy seeks revenge against me.

During their lives, they seek every blessing and advantage because others praise you when you’ve done well.

From heaven the one True God examines the earth to see if any understand the big picture, if any seek to know the True God.

The truth is, these strangers are rallying against me; cold-blooded men seek to slay me; they have no respect for You. [pause]

Psalm 57

For the worship leader. A prayer of David to the tune “Do Not Destroy,” when he hid from Saul in a cave.

Mercy. May Your mercy come to me, O God, for my soul is safe within You, the guardian of my life. I will seek protection in the shade of Your wings until the destruction has passed.

And it will be heard, “Those who seek justice will be rewarded. Indeed, there is a God who brings justice to the earth!”

Psalm 63

A song of David while in the wilderness of Judah.

O True God, You are my God, the One whom I trust. I seek You with every fiber of my being. In this dry and weary land with no water in sight, my soul is dry and longs for You. My body aches for You, for Your presence.

Don’t let Your hopeful followers face disgrace because of me, O Lord, Eternal One, Commander of heaven’s armies; Don’t let Your seekers be shamed on account of me, O True God of Israel.

Those who humbly serve will see and rejoice! All you seekers-after-God will revive your souls!

For those who seek to kill me, God, may they burn in disgrace and humiliation! Repulse the attacks; ridicule the efforts of those taking pleasure in my pain.

May my enemies be covered in shame and then die; may those who seek to harm me be overwhelmed with contempt and disgrace.

In my darkest days, I seek the Lord. Through the night, my hands are raised up, stretched out, waiting; And though they do not grow tired, my soul is uneasy.

Redden their faces in shame so that they will turn and seek Your holy name, Eternal One.

Just as the sparrow seeks her home, and the swallow finds in her own nest a place to lay her young, I, too, seek Your altars, my King and my God, Commander of heaven’s armies.
