  15. Your servants are given no straw, yet we are told, ‘Make bricks!’ Your servants are being beaten, but the fault is with your own people.”
  16. Now get to work. You will not be given any straw, yet you must produce your full quota of bricks.”
  17. Ever since I went to Pharaoh to speak in your name, he has brought trouble on this people, and you have not rescued your people at all.”
  18. I also established my covenant with them to give them the land of Canaan, where they resided as foreigners.
  19. And I will bring you to the land I swore with uplifted hand to give to Abraham, to Isaac and to Jacob. I will give it to you as a possession. I am the Lord.’”
  20. The Lord said to Moses, “Tell Aaron, ‘Take your staff and stretch out your hand over the waters of Egypt—over the streams and canals, over the ponds and all the reservoirs—and they will turn to blood.’ Blood will be everywhere in Egypt, even in vessels of wood and stone.”
  21. Moses and Aaron did just as the Lord had commanded. He raised his staff in the presence of Pharaoh and his officials and struck the water of the Nile, and all the water was changed into blood.
  22. And all the Egyptians dug along the Nile to get drinking water, because they could not drink the water of the river.
  23. The frogs will come up on you and your people and all your officials.’”
  24. They did this, and when Aaron stretched out his hand with the staff and struck the dust of the ground, gnats came on people and animals. All the dust throughout the land of Egypt became gnats.
  25. And the next day the Lord did it: All the livestock of the Egyptians died, but not one animal belonging to the Israelites died.
