  1. The Birth of Moses

    Now a man of the tribe of Levi married a Levite woman,
  2. So Moses took his wife and sons, put them on a donkey and started back to Egypt. And he took the staff of God in his hand.
  3. But Zipporah took a flint knife, cut off her son’s foreskin and touched Moses’ feet with it. “Surely you are a bridegroom of blood to me,” she said.
  4. So the Lord let him alone. (At that time she said “bridegroom of blood,” referring to circumcision.)

  10. Jethro had sent word to him, “I, your father-in-law Jethro, am coming to you with your wife and her two sons.”
  11. Then he said to the people, “Prepare yourselves for the third day. Abstain from sexual relations.”
  12. “You shall not covet your neighbor’s house. You shall not covet your neighbor’s wife, or his male or female servant, his ox or donkey, or anything that belongs to your neighbor.”
  13. If he comes alone, he is to go free alone; but if he has a wife when he comes, she is to go with him.
  14. If his master gives him a wife and she bears him sons or daughters, the woman and her children shall belong to her master, and only the man shall go free.
  15. “But if the servant declares, ‘I love my master and my wife and children and do not want to go free,’
  16. “If people are fighting and hit a pregnant woman and she gives birth prematurely but there is no serious injury, the offender must be fined whatever the woman’s husband demands and the court allows.
  17. Social Responsibility

    “If a man seduces a virgin who is not pledged to be married and sleeps with her, he must pay the bride-price, and she shall be his wife.
  18. If her father absolutely refuses to give her to him, he must still pay the bride-price for virgins.
  19. “Anyone who has sexual relations with an animal is to be put to death.
