  1. Solomon Asks for Wisdom

    Solomon son of David established himself firmly over his kingdom, for the Lord his God was with him and made him exceedingly great.
  2. That night God appeared to Solomon and said to him, “Ask for whatever you want me to give you.”

  12. Finally, a spirit came forward, stood before the Lord and said, ‘I will entice him.’ “‘By what means?’ the Lord asked.
  13. Then Zedekiah son of Kenaanah went up and slapped Micaiah in the face. “Which way did the spirit from the Lord go when he went from me to speak to you?” he asked.
  14. Amaziah asked the man of God, “But what about the hundred talents I paid for these Israelite troops?” The man of God replied, “The Lord can give you much more than that.”
  15. You say to yourself that you have defeated Edom, and now you are arrogant and proud. But stay at home! Why ask for trouble and cause your own downfall and that of Judah also?”
  16. Hezekiah asked the priests and Levites about the heaps;
  17. But when envoys were sent by the rulers of Babylon to ask him about the miraculous sign that had occurred in the land, God left him to test him and to know everything that was in his heart.
