So they feared the Lord but also served their own gods, after the manner of the nations from among whom they had been carried away.

So these nations feared the Lord, and also served their graven images; their children likewise, and their children’s children—as their fathers did, so they do to this day.

Has any of the gods of the nations ever delivered his land out of the hand of the king of Assyria?

Have the gods of the nations delivered them, the nations which my fathers destroyed, Gozan, Haran, Rezeph, and the people of Eden who were in Tel-assar?

Of a truth, O Lord, the kings of Assyria have laid waste the nations and their lands,

And he did what was evil in the sight of the Lord, according to the abominable practices of the nations whom the Lord drove out before the people of Israel.

But they did not listen, and Manas′seh seduced them to do more evil than the nations had done whom the Lord destroyed before the people of Israel.
