After Solomon woke up ·from the [and realized it had been a] dream, he went to Jerusalem. He stood before the Ark of the ·Agreement [Treaty; Covenant; Ex. 25:10] with the Lord, where he made burnt offerings [Lev. 1:1–17] and ·fellowship [or peace; well-being] offerings [Lev. 3:1]. After that, he gave a ·feast [banquet] for all his ·leaders and officers [^Lservants].

Solomon and all the Israelites ·celebrated the other festival [observed the feast; ^Cthe Feast of Shelters; ] that came at that time. People came from as far away as Lebo Hamath [^Cin the north] and the brook of Egypt [^Cin the south]. A great many people celebrated before the Lord for seven days, then seven more days, for a total of fourteen days.

the food on his table, the ·accommodations [seating; organization] of his many ·officers [officials; servants], the ·palace [attending of his] servants, and their ·good clothes [robes]. She saw ·the servants who served him at feasts [his cupbearers] and the whole burnt offerings [Lev. 1:1–17] he made in the ·Temple [^Lhouse] of the Lord. All these things ·amazed [overwhelmed; ^Ltook the spirit from] her.

And he started a new festival on the fifteenth day of the eighth month, just like the festival in Judah [^Cthe Feast of Shelters; he was trying to imitate Israel’s way of worship]. During that time the king ·offered sacrifices on [went up to] the altar, along with sacrifices to the calves in Bethel he had made. He also chose priests in Bethel to serve at the ·places of worship [^Lhigh places; 3:2] he had made.
