  1. To this day they act in accordance with the earlier customs: they do not fear the Lord, nor do they follow their statutes, their ordinances, the Law, or the commandments which the Lord commanded the sons of Jacob, whom He named Israel.
  2. The Lord made a covenant with them and commanded them, saying, “You shall not fear other gods, nor bow down to them, nor serve them, nor sacrifice to them.

  6. Then David said to his son Solomon, “Be strong and courageous, and act; do not fear nor be dismayed, for the Lord God, my God, is with you. He will not fail you nor forsake you until all the work for the service of the house of the Lord is finished.
  7. and he said, “Listen, all you of Judah and the inhabitants of Jerusalem, and King Jehoshaphat: This is what the Lord says to you: ‘Do not fear or be dismayed because of this great multitude, for the battle is not yours but God’s.
  8. You need not fight in this battle; take your position, stand and watch the salvation of the Lord in your behalf, Judah and Jerusalem.’ Do not fear or be dismayed; tomorrow, go out to face them, for the Lord is with you.”
  9. “Be strong and courageous, do not fear or be dismayed because of the king of Assyria nor because of all the horde that is with him; for the One with us is greater than the one with him.
  10. When I saw their fear, I stood and said to the nobles, the officials, and the rest of the people: “Do not be afraid of them; remember the Lord who is great and awesome, and fight for your brothers, your sons, your daughters, your wives, and your houses.”
  11. So I said, “The thing which you are doing is not good; should you not walk in the fear of our God because of the taunting of the nations, our enemies?
  12. But the previous governors who were before me laid burdens on the people and took from them bread and wine besides forty shekels of silver; even their servants domineered the people. But I did not do so because of my fear of God.
  13. Then Satan answered the Lord, “Does Job fear God for nothing?
  14. “For the despairing man there should be kindness from his friend; So that he does not abandon the fear of the Almighty.
  15. Because I feared the great multitude And the contempt of families terrified me, And I kept silent and did not go out of doors?
  16. Therefore people fear Him; He does not regard any who are wise of heart.”
  17. He laughs at fear and is not dismayed; And he does not turn back from the sword.
  18. A despicable person is despised in his eyes, But he honors those who fear the Lord; He takes an oath to his own detriment, and does not change;
  19. God will hear and humiliate them— Even the one who sits enthroned from ancient times— Selah With whom there is no change, And who do not fear God.
  20. To shoot from concealment at the innocent; Suddenly they shoot at him, and do not fear.
  21. The Lord is for me; I will not fear; What can man do to me?
  22. Do not be wise in your own eyes; Fear the Lord and turn away from evil.
  23. Do not let your heart envy sinners, But live in the fear of the Lord always.
  24. My son, fear the Lord and the king; Do not get involved with those of high rank,
  25. I know that everything God does will remain forever; there is nothing to add to it and there is nothing to take from it. And God has so worked, that people will fear Him.
