  1. He said, ‘Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt-offering on one of the mountains that I shall show you.’

  8. Leah’s eyes were lovely, and Rachel was graceful and beautiful.
  9. Jacob loved Rachel; so he said, ‘I will serve you seven years for your younger daughter Rachel.’
  10. So Jacob served seven years for Rachel, and they seemed to him but a few days because of the love he had for her.
  11. So Jacob went in to Rachel also, and he loved Rachel more than Leah. He served Laban for another seven years.
  12. Leah conceived and bore a son, and she named him Reuben; for she said, ‘Because the Lord has looked on my affliction; surely now my husband will love me.’
  13. I am not worthy of the least of all the steadfast love and all the faithfulness that you have shown to your servant, for with only my staff I crossed this Jordan; and now I have become two companies.
