  1. Now these are the records of the generations of Terah. Terah fathered Abram, Nahor, and Haran; and Haran fathered Lot.
  2. Haran died during the lifetime of his father Terah in the land of his birth, in Ur of the Chaldeans.
  3. Abram and Nahor took wives for themselves. The name of Abram’s wife was Sarai, and the name of Nahor’s wife was Milcah, the daughter of Haran, the father of Milcah and Iscah.

  10. Come, let’s make our father drink wine, and let’s sleep with him so that we may keep our family alive through our father.”
  11. So they made their father drink wine that night, and the firstborn went in and slept with her father; and he did not know when she lay down or got up.
  12. On the following day, the firstborn said to the younger, “Look, I slept last night with my father; let’s make him drink wine tonight too, then you go in and sleep with him, so that we may keep our family alive through our father.”
  13. So they had their father drink wine that night too, and the younger got up and slept with him; and he did not know when she lay down or got up.
  14. And so both of the daughters of Lot conceived by their father.
  15. The firstborn gave birth to a son, and named him Moab; he is the father of the Moabites to this day.
  16. As for the younger, she also gave birth to a son, and named him Ben-ammi; he is the father of the sons of Ammon to this day.
  17. Besides, she actually is my sister, the daughter of my father, but not the daughter of my mother; and she became my wife;
  18. and it came about, when God caused me to wander from my father’s house, that I said to her, ‘This is the kindness which you will show to me: everywhere we go, say of me, “He is my brother.”’”

  21. and it was Bethuel who fathered Rebekah. These eight Milcah bore to Nahor, Abraham’s brother.
  22. The Lord, the God of heaven, who took me from my father’s house and from the land of my birth, and who spoke to me and who swore to me, saying, ‘To your descendants I will give this land’—He will send His angel ahead of you, and you will take a wife for my son from there.
  23. and he said, “Whose daughter are you? Please tell me, is there room for us to stay overnight at your father’s house?”
  24. but you shall go to my father’s house and to my relatives, and take a wife for my son.’
  25. And he said to me, ‘The Lord, before whom I have walked, will send His angel with you to make your journey successful, and you will take a wife for my son from my relatives and from my father’s house;
