  1. So the Lord said to him, “Therefore whoever kills Cain, vengeance will be taken on him seven times as much.” And the Lord placed a mark on Cain, so that no one finding him would kill him.

  10. The Flood

    Then the Lord said to Noah, “Enter the ark, you and all your household, for you alone I have seen to be righteous before Me in this generation.
  11. So Noah acted in accordance with everything that the Lord had commanded him.
  12. Those that entered, male and female of all flesh, entered as God had commanded him; and the Lord closed the door behind him.
  13. Then Noah built an altar to the Lord, and took some of every kind of clean animal and some of every clean bird and offered burnt offerings on the altar.
  14. The Lord smelled the soothing aroma, and the Lord said to Himself, “I will never again curse the ground on account of man, for the intent of man’s heart is evil from his youth; and I will never again destroy every living thing, as I have done.
  15. He also said, “Blessed be the Lord, The God of Shem; And may Canaan be his servant.
  16. He was a mighty hunter before the Lord; therefore it is said, “Like Nimrod a mighty hunter before the Lord.”
  17. Now the Lord came down to see the city and the tower which the men had built.
  18. And the Lord said, “Behold, they are one people, and they all have the same language. And this is what they have started to do, and now nothing which they plan to do will be impossible for them.
  19. So the Lord scattered them abroad from there over the face of all the earth; and they stopped building the city.
  20. Therefore it was named Babel, because there the Lord confused the language of all the earth; and from there the Lord scattered them abroad over the face of all the earth.
  21. Abram Journeys to Egypt

    Now the Lord said to Abram, “Go from your country, And from your relatives And from your father’s house, To the land which I will show you;
  22. So Abram went away as the Lord had spoken to him; and Lot went with him. Now Abram was seventy-five years old when he departed from Haran.
  23. And the Lord appeared to Abram and said, “To your descendants I will give this land.” So he built an altar there to the Lord who had appeared to him.
  24. Then he proceeded from there to the mountain on the east of Bethel, and pitched his tent with Bethel on the west and Ai on the east; and there he built an altar to the Lord and called upon the name of the Lord.
  25. But the Lord struck Pharaoh and his house with great plagues because of Sarai, Abram’s wife.
