  1. Then Sarai, Abram’s wife, took Hagar her maid, the Egyptian, and gave her to her husband Abram to be his wife, after Abram had dwelt ten years in the land of Canaan.
  2. Then God said to Abraham, “As for Sarai your wife, you shall not call her name Sarai, but Sarah shall be her name.
  3. Then God said: “No, Sarah your wife shall bear you a son, and you shall call his name Isaac; I will establish My covenant with him for an everlasting covenant, and with his descendants after him.

  11. Now therefore, restore the man’s wife; for he is a prophet, and he will pray for you and you shall live. But if you do not restore her, know that you shall surely die, you and all who are yours.”
  12. And Abraham said, “Because I thought, surely the fear of God is not in this place; and they will kill me on account of my wife.
  13. But indeed she is truly my sister. She is the daughter of my father, but not the daughter of my mother; and she became my wife.
  14. Then Abimelech took sheep, oxen, and male and female servants, and gave them to Abraham; and he restored Sarah his wife to him.
  15. So Abraham prayed to God; and God healed Abimelech, his wife, and his female servants. Then they bore children;
  16. for the Lord had closed up all the wombs of the house of Abimelech because of Sarah, Abraham’s wife.
  17. He dwelt in the Wilderness of Paran; and his mother took a wife for him from the land of Egypt.
  18. And after this, Abraham buried Sarah his wife in the cave of the field of Machpelah, before Mamre (that is, Hebron) in the land of Canaan.
  19. and I will make you swear by the Lord, the God of heaven and the God of the earth, that you will not take a wife for my son from the daughters of the Canaanites, among whom I dwell;
  20. but you shall go to my country and to my family, and take a wife for my son Isaac.”
  21. The Lord God of heaven, who took me from my father’s house and from the land of my family, and who spoke to me and swore to me, saying, ‘To your descendants I give this land,’ He will send His angel before you, and you shall take a wife for my son from there.
  22. And it happened, before he had finished speaking, that behold, Rebekah, who was born to Bethuel, son of Milcah, the wife of Nahor, Abraham’s brother, came out with her pitcher on her shoulder.
  23. And Sarah my master’s wife bore a son to my master when she was old; and to him he has given all that he has.
  24. Now my master made me swear, saying, ‘You shall not take a wife for my son from the daughters of the Canaanites, in whose land I dwell;
  25. but you shall go to my father’s house and to my family, and take a wife for my son.’
