⁴ “‘There are some that only chew the cud or only have a divided hoof, but you must not eat them.^(A) The camel, though it chews the cud, does not have a divided hoof; it is ceremonially unclean for you. ⁵ The hyrax, though it chews the cud, does not have a divided hoof; it is unclean for you. ⁶ The rabbit, though it chews the cud, does not have a divided hoof; it is unclean for you. ⁷ And the pig,^(B) though it has a divided hoof, does not chew the cud; it is unclean for you. ⁸ You must not eat their meat or touch their carcasses; they are unclean for you.^(C)

⁴³ Do not defile yourselves by any of these creatures.^(A) Do not make yourselves unclean by means of them or be made unclean by them. ⁴⁴ I am the Lord your God;^(B) consecrate yourselves^(C) and be holy,^(D) because I am holy.^(E) Do not make yourselves unclean by any creature that moves along the ground.^{(F) 45} I am the Lord, who brought you up out of Egypt^(G) to be your God;^(H) therefore be holy, because I am holy.^(I)

¹⁴ “‘Do not curse the deaf or put a stumbling block in front of the blind,^(K) but fear your God.^(L) I am the Lord.

¹⁵ “‘Do not pervert justice;^(M) do not show partiality^(N) to the poor or favoritism to the great,^(O) but judge your neighbor fairly.^(P)

¹⁶ “‘Do not go about spreading slander^(Q) among your people.

“‘Do not do anything that endangers your neighbor’s life.^(R) I am the Lord.

¹⁷ “‘Do not hate a fellow Israelite in your heart.^(S) Rebuke your neighbor frankly^(T) so you will not share in their guilt.

¹⁸ “‘Do not seek revenge^(U) or bear a grudge^(V) against anyone among your people,^(W) but love your neighbor^(X) as yourself.^(Y) I am the Lord.

⁷ “‘Consecrate yourselves^(A) and be holy,^(B) because I am the Lord your God.^{(C) 8} Keep my decrees^(D) and follow them. I am the Lord, who makes you holy.^(E)
