⁷I saw among the simple,
I noticed among the young men,
a youth who had no sense.^(A)

⁷and I noticed among the naïve—
that is, I discerned among the youths—
a senseless young man.

²¹Folly brings joy to one who has no sense,^(A)
but whoever has understanding keeps a straight course.

²¹Stupidity is the delight of the senseless,
but an understanding man walks uprightly.

¹⁸One who has no sense shakes hands in pledge
and puts up security for a neighbor.^(A)

¹⁸A man who lacks sense^[a] cosigns a loan,^[b]
becoming a guarantor for his neighbor.
