⁷And I saw among the simple,
I observed among the youth,
a young man lacking sense,^[a]

Proverbs 7:7

American Standard Version

⁷And I beheld among the simple ones,
I discerned among the youths,
A young man void of understanding,

²¹Folly is a joy to him who lacks sense,^[a]
and a person of understanding will walk upright.^[b]

²¹Folly is joy to him that is void of ^[a]wisdom;
But a man of understanding maketh straight his going.

¹⁸A person who lacks sense^[a] pledges;^[b]
he becomes security before his neighbor.

¹⁸A man void of ^[a]understanding striketh hands,
And becometh surety in the presence of his neighbor.
