I have perceived among the youths,

⁷I looked among the naive young men
and noticed among the youth, one who had no sense.

²¹^(A)Folly is a joy to him who lacks sense,
but a man of understanding ^(B)walks straight ahead.

²¹Folly is joy to those who lack sense,
but those with understanding walk straight ahead.

¹⁸One who lacks sense gives a pledge
and puts up security in the presence of his neighbor.

¹⁸One with no sense shakes hands on a deal,
securing a loan for a friend.
