³⁰ People do not despise a thief
If he steals to satisfy himself when he is starving.
³¹ Yet when he is found, ^(A)he must restore sevenfold;
He may have to give up all the substance of his house.

²² Do not rob the ^(A)poor because he is poor,
Nor oppress the afflicted at the gate;

²⁴ Whoever robs his father or his mother,
And says, “It is no transgression,”
The same ^(A)is companion to a destroyer.

²⁴ Whoever is a partner with a thief hates his own life;
^(A)He ^[a]swears to tell the truth, but reveals nothing.

⁷ Two things I request of You
(Deprive me not before I die):
⁸ Remove falsehood and lies far from me;
Give me neither poverty nor riches—
^(A)Feed me with the food allotted to me;
^9 (B)Lest I be full and deny You,
And say, “Who is the Lord?”
Or lest I be poor and steal,
And profane the name of my God.
