²² Don’t rob a poor person because he is poor,
and don’t crush the oppressed^(A) at the city gate,^(B)

²⁴ The one who robs his father or mother^(A)
and says, “That’s no sin,”^(B)
is a companion to a person who destroys.^(C)

²⁴ To be a thief’s partner is to hate oneself;
he hears the curse but will not testify.^(A)

⁷ Two things I ask of you;
don’t deny them to me before I die:
⁸ Keep falsehood and deceitful words far from me.
Give me neither poverty nor wealth;
feed me with the food I need.^(A)
9 Otherwise, I might have too much^(B)
and deny you,^(C) saying, “Who is the Lord?” ^(D)
or I might have nothing and steal,^(E)
profaning^[a] the name of my God.^(F)
