    He studies all your paths.

    They watch those who are evil and those who are good.

    So human hearts certainly lie open to him!

² Everything a person does might seem pure to them.
    But the Lord knows why they do what they do.

³ Fire tests silver, and heat tests gold.
    But the Lord tests our hearts.

²⁷ The spirit of a person is the lamp of the Lord.
    It lights up what is deep down inside them.

² A person might think their own ways are right.
    But the Lord knows what they are thinking.
