¹⁰lest strangers feast on your wealth,
and your labors enrich another man’s house.

Common English Bible

¹⁰ Otherwise, strangers will sap your strength,
and your hard work will end up in a foreigner’s house.

6 My son, if you have become collateral for your neighbor,
if you have struck your hands in pledge for a stranger,

6 My son, if you guarantee a loan for your neighbor
or shake hands in agreement with a stranger,

¹⁵He who is collateral for a stranger will suffer for it,
but he who refuses pledges of collateral is secure.

¹⁵Guaranteeing the debt of a stranger brings big trouble,
but the one who refuses to shake hands will be secure.

¹⁶Take the garment of one who puts up collateral for a stranger;
and hold him in pledge for a wayward woman.

¹⁶Take the garment of the person who secures a loan for a stranger;
take his pledge for a foreigner.
