so a man’s heart reflects the man.

Proverbs 27:19

International Standard Version

¹⁹Just as water reflects the face,
so the heart reflects the person.

¹⁴Blessed is the man who always fears;
but one who hardens his heart falls into trouble.

¹⁴Blessed is the man who always fears the Lord,^[a]
but whoever hardens his heart will fall into disaster.

29 He who is often rebuked and stiffens his neck
will be destroyed suddenly, with no remedy.

29 After many rebukes, the stiff-necked man
will be broken incurably, without any warning.
