³ The Lord’s eyes ·see everything [^Lare everywhere];
he watches both evil and good people.

16 People may make plans in their ·minds [hearts],
but ·only the Lord can make them come true [^Lfrom the Lord comes a responding tongue].

⁴ The Lord makes everything ·go as he pleases [for a purpose].
He has even prepared a day of ·disaster [evil; harm; trouble] for evil people.

⁹ ·People may make plans in their minds [^LHuman hearts plan their path],
but the Lord ·decides what they will do [^Lestablishes their step].

³³ People throw lots ·to make a decision [^Linto the lap],
but the ·answer [decision] comes from the Lord.

²¹ People can make all kinds of plans,
but only the Lord’s ·plan [purpose; advice] will ·happen [succeed].

³⁰ There is no wisdom, understanding, or advice
that can succeed against the Lord.

³¹ You can get the horses ready for the day of battle,
but it is the Lord who gives the victory [Ps. 33:16–17].

¹² The eyes of the Lord guard knowledge,
but he ·destroys [frustrates] ·false words [^Lthe words of the untrustworthy/faithless].

27 Don’t brag about tomorrow;
you don’t know what ·may happen then [^Lthe day may bear/ bring forth].
