²⁵The Lord snatches away the arrogant one’s house,
but he preserves the widow’s boundaries.

⁵An abomination of Yahweh are all who are arrogant of heart;^[a]
rest assured,^[b] he will not go unpunished.

⁵The Lord detests all who are arrogant;
they surely won’t go unpunished.

¹⁹Better a lowly spirit with the poor
than dividing the spoil with the proud.

¹⁹Better to be humble with the needy
than to divide plunder with the proud.

²⁴The proud, haughty one: “scoffer” is his name;
he acts with arrogance of pride.

²⁴Incredibly proud—mockers are their name!
Their conduct involves excessive pride.
