15 A sensitive answer turns back wrath,
but an offensive word stirs up anger.

²⁷Whoever ^(A)restrains his words has knowledge,
and he who has a cool spirit is a man of understanding.

²⁷Wise are those who restrain their talking;
people with understanding are coolheaded.

¹⁵With ^(A)patience a ruler may be persuaded,
and a soft tongue will break a bone.

¹⁵A commander can be persuaded with patience,
and a tender tongue can break a bone.
