Numbers 5:5-10

Rules of Restitution
5 Yahweh spoke to Moses, saying, 6 “Speak to the Israelites:[a] ‘When a man or woman commits[b] any of the sins of humankind by acting unfaithfully, it is a sin against Yahweh, and that person will be guilty; 7 they will confess their sin that they did and will make restitution for their[c] guilt by adding a fifth to it[d] and giving it to whomever was wronged.[e] 8 But if the man does not have a redeemer to make restitution to him for the reparation, the reparation is to be given to Yahweh for the priest, in addition to the ram of atonement by which atonement is made for him. 9 And every contribution of all the holy objects of the Israelites[f] that they bring to the priest for him will be his. 10 The holy objects of a man will be for him;[g] whatever he gives to the priest will be for him.’”

Compensation for Wrongdoing
5 The Lord spoke to Moses: 6 “Tell the Israelites: When a man or woman commits any sin against another, that person acts unfaithfully toward the Lord and is guilty. 7 The person is to confess the sin he has committed. He is to pay full compensation, add a fifth of its value to it, and give it to the individual he has wronged.(A) 8 But if that individual has no relative(B) to receive compensation,[a] the compensation goes to the Lord for the priest, along with the atonement ram by which the priest will make atonement for the guilty person.(C) 9 Every holy contribution the Israelites present to the priest will be his.(D) 10 Each one’s holy contribution is his to give; what each one gives to the priest will be his.”
