9 I came to the governors of the province Beyond the River, and I gave them the letters of the king. Then the king sent troop commanders and horses with me. 10 But when Sanballat the Horonite and the Ammonite servant Tobiah heard this, they were greatly displeased[a] that a person had come to seek the welfare of the Israelites.[b]

9 I went to the governors of the region west of the Euphrates and gave them the king’s letters.(A) The king had also sent officers of the infantry and cavalry with me. 10 When Sanballat the Horonite(B) and Tobiah the Ammonite official heard that someone had come to pursue the prosperity of the Israelites, they were greatly displeased.(C)
