Yahweh is slow to anger but great in power;
    he will certainly not allow the guilty to go unpunished.
He marches[a] in storm wind and in gale;
    storm clouds are the dust of his feet.
He rebukes the sea and he dries up the rivers;
    he makes all the rivers run dry.
Bashan and Carmel wither;[b]
    the blossom of Lebanon languishes.
Mountains quake before him;
    the hills shake apart.[c]
The earth heaves before him—
    the world and all her inhabitants.
His indignation—who can stand before it?
    Who can endure his fierce anger?[d]
His wrath is poured out like fire;
    rocks are shattered before[e] him.
Yahweh is good—a refuge in the day of distress;
    he knows those who take refuge in him.
But with a rushing torrent he will bring Nineveh to an end;
    he will chase his enemies into darkness.

And will not at all acquit the wicked.

(C)The Lord has His way
In the whirlwind and in the storm,
And the clouds are the dust of His feet.
(D)He rebukes the sea and makes it dry,
And dries up all the rivers.
(E)Bashan and Carmel wither,
And the flower of Lebanon wilts.
The mountains quake before Him,
The hills melt,
And the earth [a]heaves at His presence,
Yes, the world and all who dwell in it.

Who can stand before His indignation?
And (F)who can endure the fierceness of His anger?
His fury is poured out like fire,
And the rocks are thrown down by Him.

(G)The Lord is good,
A stronghold in the day of trouble;
And (H)He knows those who trust in Him.
But with an overflowing flood
He will make an utter end of its place,
And darkness will pursue His enemies.
