Zion’s Future Triumph

“In that day,” says the Lord,
(A)“I will assemble the lame,
(B)I will gather the outcast
And those whom I have afflicted;
I will make the lame (C)a remnant,
And the outcast a strong nation;
So the Lord (D)will reign over them in Mount Zion
From now on, even forever.
And you, O tower of the flock,
The stronghold of the daughter of Zion,
To you shall it come,
Even the former dominion shall come,
The kingdom of the daughter of Jerusalem.”

Now why do you cry aloud?
(E)Is there no king in your midst?
Has your counselor perished?
For (F)pangs have seized you like a woman in [a]labor.
10 Be in pain, and labor to bring forth,
O daughter of Zion,
Like a woman in birth pangs.
For now you shall go forth from the city,
You shall dwell in the field,
And to (G)Babylon you shall go.
There you shall be delivered;
There the (H)Lord will (I)redeem you
From the hand of your enemies.

11 (J)Now also many nations have gathered against you,
Who say, “Let her be defiled,
And let our eye (K)look upon Zion.”
12 But they do not know (L)the thoughts of the Lord,
Nor do they understand His counsel;
For He will gather them (M)like sheaves to the threshing floor.

13 “Arise(N) and (O)thresh, O daughter of Zion;
For I will make your horn iron,
And I will make your hooves bronze;
You shall (P)beat in pieces many peoples;
(Q)I will consecrate their gain to the Lord,
And their substance to (R)the Lord of the whole earth.”

  1. Micah 4:9 childbirth

In that day, saith Jehovah, will I assemble that which is lame, and I will gather that which is driven away, and that which I have afflicted; and I will make that which was lame a remnant, and that which was cast far off a strong nation: and Jehovah will reign over them in mount Zion from henceforth even for ever. And thou, O tower of [a]the flock, [b]the hill of the daughter of Zion, unto thee shall it come, yea, the former dominion shall come, the kingdom of the daughter of Jerusalem.

Now why dost thou cry out aloud? Is there no king in thee, is thy counsellor perished, that pangs have taken hold of thee as of a woman in travail? 10 Be in pain, and labor to bring forth, O daughter of Zion, like a woman in travail; for now shalt thou go forth out of the city, and shalt dwell in the field, and shalt come even unto Babylon: there shalt thou be rescued; there will Jehovah redeem thee from the hand of thine enemies. 11 And now many nations are assembled against thee, that say, Let her be defiled, and let our eye [c]see our desire upon Zion. 12 But they know not the thoughts of Jehovah, neither understand they his counsel; for he hath gathered them as the sheaves to the threshing-floor. 13 Arise and thresh, O daughter of Zion; for I will make thy horn iron, and I will make thy hoofs brass; and thou shalt beat in pieces many peoples: and I will devote their gain unto Jehovah, and their substance unto the Lord of the whole earth.
