5 These houtos · ho twelve dōdeka Jesus Iēsous sent apostellō out · ho after instructing parangellō them autos as follows legō: “ Do aperchomai not mē go aperchomai among eis hodos the Gentiles ethnos and kai do eiserchomai not mē enter eiserchomai any Samaritan Samaritēs town polis; 6 but de go poreuō rather mallon to pros the ho lost apollymi sheep probaton · ho of the house oikos of Israel Israēl. 7 As you go poreuō, · de proclaim kēryssō the message, saying legō, ‘ The ho kingdom basileia of ho heaven ouranos is at hand engizō.’ 8 Heal therapeuō the sick astheneō, raise egeirō the dead nekros, cleanse katharizō the lepers lepros, drive out ekballō demons daimonion. Freely dōrean you received lambanō, freely dōrean give didōmi. 9 Do not mē take ktaomai gold chrysos, or mēde silver argyros, or mēde copper chalkos in eis · ho your hymeis money zōnē belts , 10 or mē a bag pēra for eis your journey hodos, or mēde two dyo tunics chitōn, or mēde sandals hypodēma, or mēde a staff rhabdos; for gar the ho worker ergatēs deserves axios · ho his autos keep trophē. 11 And whatever hos · de town polis or ē village kōmē you enter eiserchomai, find exetazō out who tis in en it autos is eimi worthy axios and kakei stay menō there until heōs an you leave exerchomai. 12 And de when you enter eiserchomai a ho house oikia, give aspazomai it autos your greeting . 13 · kai If ean the ho household oikia is eimi worthy axios, let your hymeis greeting of peace eirēnē come erchomai · ho upon epi it autos; but de if ean it is eimi not mē worthy axios, let epistrephō · ho your hymeis peace eirēnē return epistrephō to pros you hymeis. 14 And kai if anyone hos will not mē receive dechomai you hymeis or mēde listen akouō to · ho your hymeis message logos, as you leave exerchomai · ho that house oikia or ē · ho that ekeinos town polis shake ektinassō off the ho dust koniortos from ho your hymeis feet pous. 15 I tell legō you hymeis the truth amēn, it will be eimi more bearable anektos for the land gē of Sodom Sodoma and kai Gomorrah Gomorra in en the day hēmera of judgment krisis than ē for · ho that ekeinos town polis.

Jesus Sends Out His Apostles(A)
10 Jesus called his twelve ·followers [disciples] together and gave them authority to drive [force; cast] out ·evil [defiling; L unclean] spirits and to heal every kind of disease and sickness. 2 These are the names of the twelve apostles: first, Simon (also called Peter) and his brother Andrew; James son of Zebedee, and his brother John; 3 Philip and Bartholomew; Thomas and Matthew, the tax collector; James son of Alphaeus, and Thaddaeus; 4 Simon the Zealot and Judas Iscariot, who ·turned against [betrayed] Jesus.
5 Jesus sent out these twelve men with the following ·order [instructions]: “Don’t go ·to [L on the way/road of] the ·Gentiles [non-Jewish people] or ·to [L enter] any town where the Samaritans live. 6 But go to the ·people of Israel, who are like lost sheep [L lost sheep of the house of Israel]. 7 When you go, ·preach [announce; proclaim] this: ‘The kingdom of heaven is ·near [at hand].’ 8 Heal the sick, raise the dead to life again, ·heal [L cleanse] ·those who have skin diseases [T the lepers; see 8:2], and ·force demons out of people [L cast out demons]. ·I give you these powers freely, so help other people freely [L Freely you have received, freely give]. 9 Don’t ·carry [or acquire] any money ·with you [L in your belts]—gold or silver or copper. 10 Don’t carry a ·bag [traveler’s bag; or beggar’s purse] or ·extra clothes [L two tunics] or sandals or a ·walking stick [staff]. Workers ·should be given what they need [deserve to be supported; L deserve their food/sustenance].
11 “When you enter a city or town, ·find [seek out] some ·worthy [honorable; respected] person there and stay in that home until you leave. 12 When you enter that home, ·give it your blessing [L greet it; C typically, “Peace be with you”; see Luke 10:5]. 13 If the ·people there welcome you [L house is worthy], let your peace ·stay there [L come upon it]. But if ·they don’t welcome you [L it is not worthy], ·take back the peace you wished for them [L let your peace return to you]. 14 And if ·a home or town [L anyone] refuses to welcome you or ·listen to you [heed your words/message], leave that ·place [L home or town] and shake its dust off your feet [C in protest and as a warning of judgment]. 15 I tell you the truth, on the judgment day it will be ·better [more bearable/tolerable] for the ·towns [L land] of Sodom and Gomorrah [C evil cities destroyed by God; Gen. 19] than for the people of that town.
