Jesus in Gethsemane

32 (A)They *came to a place named [a]Gethsemane; and He *said to His disciples, “Sit here until I have prayed.” 33 And He *took with Him Peter, [b]James, and John, and began to be very (B)distressed and troubled. 34 And He *said to them, (C)My soul is deeply grieved, to the point of death; remain here and [c]keep watch.” 35 And He went a little beyond them, and fell to the ground and began praying that if it were possible, (D)the hour might [d]pass Him by. 36 And He was saying, (E)Abba! [e]Father! All things are possible for You; remove this cup from Me; (F)yet not what I will, but what You will.” 37 And He *came and *found them sleeping, and *said to Peter, “Simon, are you asleep? Could you not [f]keep watch for one hour? 38 [g](G)Keep watching and praying, so that you will not come into temptation; the spirit is willing, but the flesh is weak.” 39 And again He went away and prayed, saying the same [h]words. 40 And again He came and found them sleeping, for their eyes were heavy; and they did not know what to say in reply to Him. 41 And He *came the third time, and *said to them, “Are you still sleeping and resting? That is enough. (H)The hour has come; behold, the Son of Man is being [i]betrayed into the hands of sinners. 42 Get up, let’s go; behold, the one who is betraying Me is near!”

Jesus Waits And Prays In The Garden of Gethsemane

32 And they come to a place of which the name is Gethsemane. And He says to His disciples, “Sit here while[a] I pray”. 33 And He takes along Peter and James and John with Him. And He began to be alarmed[b] and distressed. 34 And He says to them, “My soul is deeply-grieved, to the point of death. Stay here and keep-watching”. 35 And having gone ahead a little, He was falling on the ground, and praying that if it is possible, the hour might pass from Him. 36 And He was saying, “Abba[c]! Father! All things are possible for You. Remove this cup from Me. But not what I want[d], but what You want ”. 37 And He comes and finds them sleeping. And He says to Peter, “Simon, are you sleeping? Were you[e] not strong-enough[f] to keep watch for one hour? 38 Keep watching, and be praying that[g] you may not come into temptation[h]. The spirit is willing[i], but the flesh is weak”. 39 And having gone away again, He prayed, having spoken the same thing[j]. 40 And again having come, He found them sleeping. For their eyes were being very-weighed-down. And they did not know what they should answer Him. 41 And He comes the third-time, and says to them, “Are you sleeping[k] and resting from now on? It is enough. The hour came. Behold— the Son of Man is being handed-over into the hands of the sinners. 42 Arise, let us be going. Behold— the one handing Me over has drawn-near”.
