14 Then the Lord spoke to Moses, saying, 15 (A)If a person acts unfaithfully and sins (B)unintentionally against the Lords holy things, then he shall bring his (C)guilt offering to the Lord: (D)a ram without defect from the flock, according to your assessment in silver by shekels, in terms of the (E)shekel of the sanctuary, as a guilt offering. 16 And (F)he shall make restitution for that which he has sinned against the holy thing, and shall add to it a fifth part of it and give it to the priest. (G)The priest shall then make atonement for him with the ram of the guilt offering, and it will be forgiven him.

17 “Now if a person sins and does any of the things [a]which the Lord has commanded not to be done, (H)though he was unaware, he is still guilty and shall bear his punishment. 18 He is then to bring to the priest (I)a ram without defect from the flock, according to your assessment, as a guilt offering. So the priest shall make atonement for him concerning his sin which he committed (J)unintentionally and did not know it, and it will be forgiven him. 19 It is a guilt offering; he was certainly guilty before the Lord.”

Guilt Offering

[b]Then the Lord spoke to Moses, saying, (K)When a person sins and acts unfaithfully against the Lord, and disavows the rightful claim of his neighbor regarding a deposit or a security entrusted to him, or regarding robbery, or he has extorted from his neighbor, or (L)has found what was lost and lied about it and sworn falsely, so that he sins regarding any of the things that people do; then it shall be, when he sins and becomes guilty, that he shall (M)restore what he took by robbery or acquired by extortion, or the deposit which was [c]entrusted to him, or the lost property which he found, or anything about which he swore falsely; (N)he shall make restitution for it [d]in full and add to it a fifth more. (O)He shall give it to the one to whom it belongs on the day he presents his guilt offering. Then he shall bring to the priest his guilt offering to the Lord, (P)a ram without defect from the flock, according to your assessment, as a guilt offering, and (Q)the priest shall make atonement for him before the Lord, and he will be forgiven for any one of the things which he may have done to incur guilt.”

Offerings for Inadvertent Sins

14 The Lord told Moses, 15 “When a person commits a truly treacherous act and sins inadvertently concerning the sacred things of the Lord, then he is to bring a trespass offering to the Lord from the flock as compensation for his guilt. It is to be a ram without defect, estimated as to its value in silver shekels, according to the sanctuary shekel. 16 He is to compensate for whatever sin he had committed concerning the sacred things of the Lord, add a fifth part to it, and give it to the priest. The priest is to make atonement for him with the ram as a sin offering and he’ll be forgiven.

17 “If a person sins and does what the Lord commanded is not to be done, and if he didn’t know that he had sinned, then he will be guilty nevertheless.[a] 18 He is to bring from the flock to the priest a ram without defect, estimated as to its value in silver shekels, as a guilt offering. Then the priest is to make atonement for him concerning his inadvertent act that he committed through ignorance, and it will be forgiven him. 19 It’s a sin offering for his guilt in the Lord’s presence.”

Restitution Offerings

[b]The Lord told Moses, “A person sins against the Lord by acting treacherously toward his neighbor regarding something entrusted to his care, regarding security for a loan, robbery, if he has oppressed his neighbor, if he has found something that had been lost and then lied about it, or if he makes a false oath about any of these things, thus committing a sin with respect to these things. If that person has sinned and has been found guilty, then he is to return the stolen thing that he took or obtained by oppression, or the security that had been entrusted to him, or the lost thing that he had found, or the thing about which he had given a false oath. He is to restore it in full, add a fifth to it, then give it to whom it belongs the very day he’s found guilty. Now as to his guilt offering, he is to bring to the Lord a ram without defect from the flock, estimated as to its value, to the priest. Then the priest is to make atonement for him in the Lord’s presence, and it will be forgiven him regarding whatever he did.”
