35 And if thy brother be waxen poor, and fallen in decay with thee; then thou shalt relieve him: yea, though he be a stranger, or a sojourner; that he may live with thee. 36 Take thou no usury of him, or increase: but fear thy God; that thy brother may live with thee. 37 Thou shalt not give him thy money upon usury, nor lend him thy victuals for increase. 38 I am the Lord your God, which brought you forth out of the land of Egypt, to give you the land of Canaan, and to be your God.

Lending to the Poor

35 ‘If one of your brethren becomes poor, and [a]falls into poverty among you, then you shall (A)help him, like a stranger or a sojourner, that he may live with you. 36 (B)Take no usury or interest from him; but (C)fear your God, that your brother may live with you. 37 You shall not lend him your money for usury, nor lend him your food at a profit. 38 (D)I am the Lord your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt, to give you the land of Canaan and to be your God.
